PRCCI Goes Green Dot |

Some call it the “Green Movement”, but the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Illinois thinks of it as acting locally and thinking globally”. The chambers’ very own Green Dot Environmental (GDE) will serve as our consultant as we move towards conservation and sustainability. They will assist us as we transition the chamber into an eco-friendly establishment. Whether its daily operations or how we coordinate and conduct our events, the chamber will diligently insure that we are doing our part as environmental stewards in the Puerto Rican and business communities. From eco-nomic development to eco-friendly decisions, small business owners and entrepreneurs alike can garner benefits in taking low-cost practical measures that reduce energy related expenses to aide in their success. Part of this transition means every day for 1 hour the chamber will be going dark, so if you pass by the chamber and see the lights off, we are there reducing our carbon footprint by conserving roughly 250 hours of electricity annually. Our monthly newsletter will include a Green tip, statistics, upcoming Green events, and/or a important piece of environmental legislation we should know about. We are very happy to have partnered with one of our very own members and chose to not only go GREEN, but go Green Dot.
Statistic: In 2008 the whole world was responsible for 24 billion metric tons in carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
